Classes and residences

When you need this

  • Before the first students are added: every student needs a class and a residence (for example Boarding or Day).
  • A new class opens, or a class is renamed.

Classes and residences are more than a label:

  • Billing: a fee structure's fees can apply to a class or a residence, so boarders and day students, or each form, are billed their own fees.
  • Messages: a message or a statement run can go to a whole class.
  • Bank payments: a payment on the bank statement can be matched to a student by their class.

A student is in one class and one residence at a time.

Create a class or a residence

  1. Open More in the menu, then Classes.
  2. Press New Class.
  3. Name: for example Form 1 A, or Boarding.
  4. Description (optional).
  5. Type: Class for a class, Residence (boarding / day) for a residence. Don't leave it on General: a General group isn't offered as a class or residence when you add a student.
  6. Press Submit.
